The Ribena Team has been busy looking at a really important part of family life – play. We love play here at Ribena HQ and think it should be free, open and above all fun! So this week we’ll be launching our Ribena Plus Exploration PlayLab, to champion exploratory, imaginative and creative play that’s fun for all the family.

This is a unique play area to get parents reconnecting with play and showing everyone how easy and fun it can be. You can even win a chance to come along – take a visit to @RibenaUK on Twitter to find out how.

We’ve also commissioned a new report – the Ribena Plus Play Report – to look into how families across the UK are playing and will be revealing our fascinating findings this Friday 13th April, so keep an eye out for them.

Also stay tuned for some helpful ideas on how to create exploratory play with your children at home. They’ll be on the blog from Friday so visit us again soon!

The Ribena Team will be sharing our love of blackcurrants with you over the coming months by bringing you lots of tips, recipes and info on our favourite little fruit.

But now, to make your breakfast smoothie you will need:

• 30g fresh or frozen blackcurrants (make sure they are thawed)
• 80ml natural yoghurt
• 75ml Ribena Blackcurrant squash
• 2 teaspoons mashed mango
• 10ml honey
• 10g mixed spelt flakes / oats (5g each type, crushed to a coarse sawdust texture)

Press the blackcurrants through a sieve and add the juice to all the other ingredients apart from the grains. Whizz together and add your oats or spelt at the end.

Finally, enjoy!

Make sure you let us how know how your recipes turn out if you give them a go, by dropping us a line in the comments section.

The Ribena Team has been busy whizzing up some mouth-watering berry recipes in the Ribena kitchen, and this fruit smoothie from our friends at The Blackcurrant Foundation is a delicious and easy way to get some tasty red and purple berries into your daily diet.

Using a mixture of fresh and frozen berries makes this fruit smoothie refreshingly cool and thirst-quenching.

Prep time

5-10 mins

You’ll need:

•	20g frozen blackcurrants (alternatively, you can use summer fruits containing blackcurrants)
•	20g fresh blueberries
•	40g fresh raspberries
•	20g pitted fresh or frozen cherries
•	100ml grape juice

Method

Blitz or blend your ingredients together and, hey presto, your smoothie is ready to drink! We’d love to see your smoothie pictures on our Facebook group: www.facebook.com/RibenaUK.

We love finger knitting! It’s fun and safe for everyone to try because no needles are needed. All you need is a ball of wool and some fingers to have a go!

You can share pictures of your woolly creations over on the Ribena Facebook page and if they’re purple knits then even better.

Right, let’s get started…

1. Hold the end of the wool between your thumb and forefinger

2. Weave the wool over your forefinger, behind your middle finger and over your ring finger.

3. Wind the wool anti-clockwise behind and around your three middle fingers.

4. Pull the lower loop on your ring finger over the upper piece of wool and away from you, over the top of your finger.

5. Move the wool held between your thumb and forefinger to between your forefinger and middle finger so that it goes over the wool in front of all three fingers.

6. Wind the long end of wool attached to the ball anti-clockwise, behind and then around your three middle fingers, and behind your little finger.

7. On your ring finger, pull the lower loop over the upper piece of wool and then over your finger again so it sits behind your finger. Repeat this on your middle and forefingers so you can see three loops left on your fingers.

8. Repeat the last two steps until you have knitted as much as you need. You can tighten the knitting by pulling the short piece of wool behind your fingers at any time.

9. Cast off (finish) by leaving about 15cm of wool free and then cutting with scissors. Thread this end through the three loops on your fingers then remove and pull tight.

Voila, your finger knitting creation is complete!

Simply choose your Ribena squash flavour then pour into a bowl and add water. Then add chopped fruit, such as apples, oranges and strawberries to make a creepy punch, plus jellied spider sweets and candy eyeballs to add a real Halloween edge.

Make sure you serve your Ribena into bowls with a ladle for a witch’s brew effect and we’d love to see pictures of your spooky fruit punches over on our Facebook page.

Happy Halloween!
